Our services we offer in this area cover:
Air Excavation - use of a specialised air spade or lance to remove the soil whilst not damaging roots in the area. Allows the investigation of the roots and stem base, installation of services or just safe soil removal for replacement.
Mulching - replacement of the soil around the tree with natural materials to aid in moisture retension, prevent traffic, increase soil temperature or remove vegetation competition.
Root Barriers - installation of impermeable barriers to help prevent roots from travelling through, which can help prevent damage to structures or just to contain tree growth.
De-Compaction - replacement of compacted soil with looser more aerated soil.
Feeding - use of treatments to help the tree replace lost nutrients, balance up pH levels, or promote helpful fungi activity.
We are very good as people looking at the 50% of the tree we can see but not so good at the 50% of the tree we can’t. We are strong believers that with the right care of the root system, most issues with trees can be mitigated.
We offer a range of services not seen by most tree care providers that sets us apart. One of the most common issues damaging trees we come across is compaction of the soil around the tree base. Trees need to the soil for all its water and nutrients as well as for breathing. Similar to the canopy of a tree, the roots require access to oxygen to maintain themselves. Compaction of the soil can cause a tree to die several years after which can lead to disconnection between the cause and result.
We look to our root services before resorting to other more invasive works as they can be more affective and cost effective.
